New Deck at Applegate Jesuit Retreat Center

We have begun a large scale remodel of the wraparound deck on Redwood Lodge. We were excited to take these photos of the initial demolition because we know how everyone loves before/after photos!

Many people have come to our retreat center and stayed in this beloved lodge. From spiritual groups to crafting groups, this two-story building, has 18 bedrooms, a kitchenette, and meeting rooms, has been the foundation for cherished moments to be shared throughout many years. Yet, as the years of use was beginning to show, and for the safety of our guests and aesthetics of the retreat center, the Jesuit Province of the West and UCCR together decided to build a new and improved deck.

Under normal circumstances, it would be very difficult to schedule this work to be done between guests, but this is a silver lining to our currently open calendar. We are, however, so hopeful that once we do return to hosting groups activities and programs, many more moments will be captured on the new deck that overlooks the beautiful Applegate meadow which is home to turkey and other wildlife.

Here are some photos of the start of demolition, as well as this week in blooms.
